This Level Sensor is designed to provide users with level data based on the amount of conductivity detected across the sensor area.  The convenient I2C interface makes it easy to add leakage and level detection to any IoT application in seconds using our simple plug and play interface.  This level sensor uses an ADC121C021 analog to digital converter with 12-bit resolution, providing level data values from 0 to 4095 based on conductivity.  On-board address jumpers allow up to 8 level sensors on a single I2C data .  Integrated .75″ square inch detection pad makes this sensor ideal for experimentation applications, indoor flooding applications, hydroponic gardening, and more.  Chain this sensor together with Qatalytic relay controllers for pump control applications, add a temperature and humidity sensor to the chain for environmental monitoring, or expand the chain to include many other types of sensors.

Because this sensor measure conductivity, sensor readings will vary based on the conductivity of the detected.  Users should plan to take a minimum level with touching the bottom edge of the sensor.  A secondary with covering the detection grid.  Use these two readings to calculate the level.

All I2C Mini Modules are designed to operate at 5VDC. Using a convenient 4-Pin plug, devices can be daisy-chained onto the I2C , eliminating the need for soldering. Simply plug together the devices you need for your next automation application. Pull-up resistors are included with all Qatalytic master devices. If you are wiring in your own I2C port, onboard 4.7K -selectable pull-up resistors are available for convenience purposes.

Use this level sensor with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Particle and much more.  Connect to a PC using our USB to I2C converter interface.  Be sure to the compatibility section of this sensor for a complete list of supported hardware platforms.  Not for use in outdoor applications.

What is the I2C Interface?

I2C Interface allows you to chain together several devices on the I2C , and communicate to each device individually at high speed (subject to the limitations of I2C).  The I2C Interface uses a standard 4-Pin I2C Input and I2C Output connector.  These devices communicate on the power of 5V I2C data and provide 5V DC power through this connector.  The advanced embedded devices use standard I2C communications for all data transport, which is supported by nearly every microcontroller in production today.  The I2C Interface is strictly a 5V standard, which is ideal for transport across longer cables.  The device Package always includes a 6″ (152mm) 4-conductor I2C cable.  The I2C based Mini Modules always include a 3″ (76mm) 4-conductor I2C cable.  Cables and connectors are available separately for designers who would like to include their own I2C Interface into their designs.

Plug and Play Connectivity

These advanced Embedded devices will plug into any available I2C Output.  This includes just about everything we make in the Qatalytic IoT Category, including all the other IoT devices.  We also supply a wide range of I2C adapters that make it easy to plug I2C Devices directly into most computing platforms.  The advanced Interface adapters are available for Arduino, Banana Pi, BeagleBone, Bluz, C.H.I.P., ESP8266, Onion Omega, Particle Photon and Electron, PyCom, Raspberry Pi, 2, 3, and Zero, and Windows.  We are always working to add new platform support for I2C devices.  These Interface devices are compatible with just about everything in the microcontroller industry.

Unlimited I2C Expansion

Based on our plug-and-play I2C interface standard, all the I2C devices which are equipped with the above protocol output ports, making it easy to expand to a wide variety of sensors, current monitors, relay controllers, PWM controllers, and much more!  We are always designing new expansions for our modular plug-and-play I2C framework.  We are dedicated to building a product line of interconnected devices to simplify all forms of automation.  Re-use or upgrade your hardware within seconds by selecting the modules that best fit your needs, and chaining them together using the included I2C expansion cables!

Powering I2C Interface Devices

Some I2C devices require an external power supply, others may be powered through the 4-Pin I2C connector at 5VDC, and other devices are selectable between external and I2C power.  All I2C mini-modules are powered through the 5V I2C connector, greatly simplifying connectivity.
